Design Spotlight:
Saddle Café

Emirati-owned Saddle Café recently continued its international expansion with the opening of its first UK location in London’s prestigious Knightsbridge district.

Saddle began life as a modest food truck but has since expanded to 14 sites in the United Arab Emirates, alongside locations in Cannes South of France, Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and now London.

In the run-up to opening its UK café, Dalham’s, Alex Casaki provided recommendations and assistance on design and  build works.

Design is a cornerstone of the Saddle experience, as important as its breakfasts, shakes and speciality coffees.

Saddle’s London opening continues the brand’s long-running partnership with renowned Emirati artist Mattar Bin Lahej.

Known for his unique calligraphy featured at the Museum of the Future, Bin Lahej creates a custom art piece for each Saddle Café location, blending food and visual art for a one-of-a-kind experience.

In the London café, Bin Lahej has created an art installation called “Speed”, which combines soft materials with metals to depict Arabian calligraphy, specifically the Thuluth script.

You can find Saddle Café on 7 Montpellier Street, London, SW7 1EX.
